What files are correct for printing a photo image?
- The format for saving a graphic file for printing is JPG in profile sRGB.
- The color space of a graphic file for printing is sRGB.CMYK files have distorted colors and a more "washed" saturation, therefore they are not accepted for printing photo images. To avoid differences in color shades, saturation and clarity, we accept files in the sRGB space (not Adobe RGB, ProPhoto or P3).
- The size of the graphic file should be adjustedto the size of the photo. It is assumed that the sufficient resolution of the photo is approx.2,500 to 6,000 for the long edge. px.
- The JPG file should not be too compressed and its optimal size should be between 3 and 10 MB to obtain good photo image printing quality. Too much compression (low file weight) causes distortions and artifacts, especially visible at the edges of objects. File too large, may not load due to exceeded server memory.
- The graphic file on a scale of 1: 1 is printed in a resolution of 150 dpi in the case of photo paintings on canvas, 250 dpi in the case of photo paintings in frames and posters.
- The photo should havecorrect focus, exposure, no noise and be exposed as correctly as possible.
What files are invalid and can we reject them?
- If the photo file is smaller than 800 x 800 pixels, the system will reject the photo due to its low resolution, showing an appropriate message.
- If the graphic file has resolution slightly higher than 800 pixels (it is within the lower limit), but is downloaded, for example, from an instant messenger such as Messenger or WhatsApp. Then the image is too much distorted by compression. The file will pass verification, but enlarged photo images may distortion and artifacts.
- If the photo file is saved in a format other than JPG, e.g. PNG, PDF, GIF.
- If the photo file is larger than approximately 12,000 pixels, as the server will not be able to process such a large photo file, it will also show an error message.
- If the file is in a color mode other than 24-bit RGB (8-bit per channel), e.g. when the file has a palette of 256 colors (8-bit) or 2 colors (1-bit), it is not suitable for printing a photo image.
- If the file has too much grain, noise, lack of sharpness etc.
